Join Barefoot Dave on a kayaking adventure at one of North Stradbroke Island's many beautiful and interesting locations. Suitable for small and large groups, these kayaking tours are fun, educational, great for photos and great for fitness!
The lake kayaking tour explores Brown Lake at Dunwich, which gets its name from the tea trees that line the shore and stain the water brown. Have some fun learning different kayaking techniques in a safe environment. This tour is great for young families or for those who aren't confident in the water.
Adventure Amity Tour
This tour will take you kayaking around the Amity Point area called the Spit to a "hidden" creek amongst the mangroves. This creek is full of fish, turtles and stingrays, so always be on the lookout not only below but above, as many species of birds have made these mangroves their home. After experiencing plenty of nature's wonders, cool off with a swim around the rock wall at Amity Point south of the jetty.
Treasure Island Kayaking
This tour will take you about 45 minutes out to sea from the Amity township. We visit a sand bar that has developed over the years from the erosion of the Amity shoreline. This has unique features as the birds use it as a resting spot during low and high tides and it is well worth exploring. On our return we hug the Amity rock wall with the chance of seeing wobbegong sharks, pelagic fish and sea urchins.
Adventure Myora Tour
The Adventure Myora tour will take you from the foreshores of the One Mile area in Dunwich around to the beautiful Myora Channel. When we get into the Myora Channel and paddle past the many moored boats there, we continue to paddle to 3 ship wrecks which we can explore. Watch the Bream and other coloured fish dart in and around this wreck as they swim for shelter.
Kayak to Shag Rock
Shag Rock is found on the northern side of the island just off Home Beach. This passage of water is the Coral Sea found in the South Pacific Ocean and here we hope to see manta rays, paddle with the dolphins and other pelagic fish, as well as looking at the shallow water containing rocky outcrops and coral. You can ask about snorkelling whilst out there as there is plenty to see underwater. This tour is recommended for fit and confident kayakers.
